Wildlife Care

We love the wild animals that call Winderong home. We are lucky to have wombats, wallabies, kangaroos, platypus, greater gliders and lots more spread over the property. We try to disturb them as little as possible but sometimes will offer a helping hand. We are currently engaged in a program to treat mange in our resident wombats. And have also been working with Wisdom Wombat Refuge in Kangaroo Valley to release wombats that have been rescued onto Winderong.

We also support and are actively working with the local Brush-tailed Rock-wallabies organisation. Brush-tailed Rock-wallabies were once common throughout Eastern Australia, now they are endangered. There are only approximately 20 individuals in the wild in Kangaroo Valley, and a similar number in Victoria. The Friends of Brush-tailed Rock-wallabies are working to pull these iconic Kangaroo Valley Rock-wallabies back from the edge of extinction.
