Volunteers

Winderong wouldn’t be the same without the help of our resident volunteers. At any one time we have between 2 to 6 volunteers staying on the farm, helping out with the day-to-day running of the property. From animal care, to working in the veggie patch, to cooking up creations in the kitchen with our produce, to bush regeneration, to helping with our endless list of projects; we hope that everyone who comes and stays at Winderong is able to learn and grow with us. There’s also plenty of time for hanging out and enjoying the property. If you’re interested in volunteering with us please get in contact (currently 6 week minimum stay is required).

Bushcare

We are passionate about protecting the natural beauty around us. We are organically regenerating the bushland and the historically over-worked pastures. We don’t use any chemicals and don’t go around aimlessly pulling out everything that is classed as a ‘weed’. Working with professional bush regenerators, ecologists and other experts, we try to observe, listen and understand the land, where she is at in her process and the function of every ‘weed’ and plant, looking at the natural system as a whole.

Wildlife Care

We love the wild animals that call Winderong home. We are lucky to have wombats, wallabies, kangaroos, platypus, greater gliders and lots more spread over the property. And have also been working with Wisdom Wombat Refuge in Kangaroo Valley to release wombats that have been rescued onto Winderong. We also support and are actively working with the local Brush-tailed Rock-wallabies organisation. Brush-tailed Rock-wallabies were once common throughout Eastern Australia, now they are endangered. There are only approximately 20 individuals in the wild in Kangaroo Valley, and a similar number in...
